Yahoo $300 submit fee

do the $30 services really include this fee?

A friend of mine said she found a search engine submittal service claiming to submit to 400+ engines for $30 per month and that Yahoo submittal is included in this fee. When asked how they could absorb a $299 fee for $30, they said they "do so much traffic with Yahoo they get a special price". The company in question was nowhere to be found on any of the major search engines itself. What's the deal here?

There probably just using Yahoo's free submit service... Which isn't very effective...

Hi webwoman,

The service is exactly as they state, a submittal service. As Seth said, it's probably using the free submit at Yahoo.
Certain sections are paid only, so, it does depend upon the category.

For $30 you wouldn't get much work out of a car mechanic!

Hehe... I'd suspect the deal here is a scam, but I don't know the company's back-room deals, so I can't say for certain.

(However, if you're signing a multi-month contract at $30/month, keep in mind that Yahoo's $299 fee is a one-time charge.)

Only 400 engines?... A client forwarded me an email that offered submission "to 500,000 search engines...." ;)

I would avoid services like this entirely. At best they result in a lot of spam email.

thanks everyone, for your valued opinions. I thought it seemed suspicious - when something seems too good to be true - it usually is! :)
