Is it still worth submitting to Yahoo?

I am still thinking about submitting my site to Yahoo - have been waiting till my site is 'good enough'.

Now I find our site is listed on Yahoo for our lesser, cheaper keywords via Overture.

Do you think it is still worth forking out $300 to get on Yahoo for my major keywords? Or are they on the way out?

I would be interested in your advice.

I think it really depends on the industry you are in. For example in my playground right now if I were to only play on the Overture side I'd chew through $300 in about a week but I still get to be on the first page based on my Yahoo description.

If you don't rank at Yahoo it's certainly a good idea to get on the Overture train. If you do rank at Yahoo I think we still need a week or so to have enough data to analyze the impact of this new system.

Well, I'm expecting my Overture monthly spend to stay under $25/month as I am only in the top 3 for cheaper minor keywords.

My question is really about Yahoo - is it worth subscribing at this point?

For me it is probably not worth it anymore... it certainly was when I could get to the top, but not now.

However, it is now very much an 'it depends' situation. If you can get to the top via GoTo for a reasonable period (define that for yourself) for your $300, then that is likely to be the better bet... at least placement is pretty much guaranteed. The Yahoo $300 now buys you placement somewhere... but certainly not at the top of any page.

Yahoo doesn't look a great buy to me anymore, but it may well differ for others.

For the record, my visitation from Yahoo is already down 20%... and the new format has not even been implemented outside the US. I used to have #1 for most of my phrases.

I have still not seen the new format first hand by the way... if anyone can do a screen grab of what the new format actually looks like, it would be appreciated.
