Business and Economy for sites that sell

is it still a requirement?

I have a client who wants to get into an "informational" Yahoo category with a site that has about 10 sales pitch pages out of 600. No e-commerce, but they obviously are selling, quoting prices, etc. The other 590 pages are chock full of great info.

It used to be that if a site sold anything at all, Yahoo required a Business and Economy category. Is Yahoo still strict about this? Are we risking losing the money by asking for an informational category as our first choice?

tedster, if you are refering to the paid express service, you can submit to any category. I did and was accepted into Recreational/Keyword. The domain name matches the keyword and it was used for the site title. The yahoo editor removed the "keyword" from the discription, oh well. The site is informative but, blatantly commercial.

I've seen this done as well Tedster, if you pay they'll probably add you where you request (if it's relevant to the category of course). Can you hide the e-commerce for the submission (just to ensure getting in the category)?

Thanks guys. That's what I hoped (I always thought they were a bit too purist in the old days).

I think we'll give the general category a shot. It's really where the site belongs, IMO. No, I can't really hide the ecommerc. Even though it's only ten pages, they're linked to very frequently -- both ninline and main navigation.
