Depends on who you ask.

The company, citing authoritative research from Jupiter Media Metrix, said MSN.com had become the top site in the Internet search category...

...the new rankings released by Microsoft did in fact come from a customized report based on criteria set forth by Microsoft...

...But when asked whether it did count users with multiple browsers open more than once, Bob Visse, director of MSN marketing hesitated, then replied: "I'd have to go back and find out."....

You can get the ... on Wired news [wired.com].

Interesting article, good find Mac,

So what do you reckon the new MSN will look like, as the article drew towards these rather presumptive and 'CUSTOMIZED' msn figures as being a hype up for the new MSN ?

Does MSN really need to Lie about its stats, well thats stats for you, and if your any good at manipulating them, then you can provide evidence for any claim.

It's is so nice to see a quality publication like Wired discussing the problems with Media Metrix numbers. For years I've warned people they were nothing but fiction. Not even an educated guess at best. As the recent survey shows, they have their own interests to promote. (eg: inbound cash from microsoft).
