Traffic from Yahoo

1000 pages in index = 30 hits daily?

One of my sites have 1000 pages indexed in Yahoo and get 30 hits daily from Yahoo. I don't have too much links to the main site and just a few deep links. So I suppose my pages have quite low page rank. I wanted to improve the ranking. I have seen that Yahoo (and MSN especially still counts META TAGS). I put meta tags for pages and put some more keywords in title and H1 tag and it seems that it didn't make any progress, the traffic from Yahoo is still same.

Any thoughts for improving traffic from Yahoo?

The number of pages indexed isn't all that important, other than knowing if their spider is crawling your whole site.

To get much traffic you need to have good on page factors (like title tags, title in h1 tag, presence of keywords in context) and even better off page factors. Key off page factors:

• lots of links from other sites
  
• links from pages on the same subject
  
• links from pages that rank well
  
• links with keywords in the link text
  
• lots of links from other sites

These items can greatly improve your search rankings, and therefor your traffic.

Just keep in mind that even doing everything well, Yahoo may only send you 10% or fewer visitors than Google.

but at least it will 100% crawl the site!

I found pages with a much higher keyword density do better on Y so try increasing that it may help

I have a feeling this counts a lot in Yahoo. Especially quality links?

To get links it is not easy.

The easiest way is to generate it with some kind of link exchange programs. But there is rumour that it could hurt your sites but I never tried it. I think I will try it with one experimental site, just to see the effect.
