Today I was running some searches on Yahoo, which if run on Google would bring my site up on the first page.
On one particular search, my site did not appear at all. Then I noticed a reference to "Blocked results" at the foot of the results page. It gave me the option of unblocking 2 blocked sites. I did, and my site at once appeared at #4 in the results.
I could not find anything in the Yahoo Search Help information about this. I suspect it may be linked to an option I found in the Preferences. One can check or uncheck a "SafeSearch" option, if you want to block "adult content" or not. I think it must be checked by default.
My site has NO adult content. Is this SafeSearch option related to the "blocked result" problem? If so, that would explain the poor referrals from Yahoo. And if it is, then how do I get Yahoo (and other sites?) to recognize that it has no adult content? I assume I need to add a meta tag or some other kind of code, but I don't know.
If the "Blocked results" are something else, what are they?
My apologies for a basic question, but I couldn't find the answer on Yahoo or by searching here....
Thanks!
From what you're telling me, in any case, I don't need to worry. This is only a feature that a searcher selects regarding a specific site--my site hasn't been categorically and mistakenly blocked by Yahoo from all searches.
Thanks!
