Yahoo Description

Where does Yahoo obtain the text descriptions from?

Does anyone know for where Yahoo grabs the sentence or two sentence-long descriptions that accompany results?

Are there any write-ups that go into detail on this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It used to be if you are in their directory they used the discription and title that Yahoo wrote. But just last week I noticed that they are now using my meta tag.

Thats what I thought untill today when I noticed that all my indexed pages for a perticular site have got same description as follow:

==========
... Trademarks Are The Property Of Their Respective Owners. ©2005 www.myurl.com ...
www.myurl.com - 25k - Cached - More from this site - Save
==========

Any idea why this happend?

They use the description from their directory. If you don't change your homepage at all, they'll generate a non-meta-description summary and will use the <title> as it appears in your code.
