Unbanned from Yahoo?

I removed a bunch of links

Although the vast majority of my web traffic still comes from Google, I looked through my referrals today and I noticed that all of a sudden I'm getting Yahoo traffic again!

What I did during the last two to three days is remove some of the inbound links. For example, Site B had links to 10 different pages of site A, and this was repeated on every page of Site B. So I pared down some of these links so maybe now I only have 6 inbound links on each page of Site B. And now site A is getting some traffic from Yahoo.

Coincidence? Or did removing excessive links cause me to become unbanned?

Could you make your competitor's website disappear by creating massive links to his site from one of your sites?

I can't imagine Yahoo was real keen on that type of linking, but it seems like the cure happened rather fast.

Does anyone know the frequency of back link updates with Yahoo.

i cant believe after all this time we are still grouping bans and filters under the same term.....

if a change really did get you some traffic then you had a filter....if youre truly banned only manual help can get your traffic back...

Sorry Soapy, I agree with your terminology. I think that the vast majority of people who think they are "banned" are really filtered.

I do seem to be getting a few more hits from Yahoo after only two days.

I think I need to remove even more links.

381 pages. Not bad. That's even more than Google says is returned.
