Great Ranking with Google but not with Yahoo

I would leave everything alone - a lot of us have the opposite problem and Google brings about 4 or 5 times as much traffic.

I dont know who in their right mind would fix or change their website if you are ranking well in google, for Yahoo. If yahoo told me i needed to do this and that, in order to get re-listed, i wouldnt touch it if you have good google and msn rankings...

I beginning to think at least half of yahoo's own paid directory is full of banned sites in their search engine. If they went through and unbanned all of their paid listings/human reviewed directory websites it would be halfway decent.

One thing you notice if you search the directory (which nobody really uses), those results are fairly relevant and clean.. but their search results in my opinion are really garbage.

A really weird problem. My site has top rankings in Yahoo, but not in Google, but Google really brings more traffic, so I guess you are lucky.

I have the same problem and really dont worry about.

Having sat and thought it through after comparing logs of sites that are the other way around, I dont think its worth teh effort to even attempt to have a page rank well in Y

I am having the same problem - we do great with Google (2,100 daily visitors) - but we recently got kicked hard by Yahoo. Just to get 200 people a day from them would mean more business though. I really don't know what to do - our sites are clean and legit and have been around forever - they have been in and out of Yahoo for the last few years, but my main site is definitely out for the most part now. I guess there is nothing to do except keep doing the right things and see what happens?
And I agree - some of the Yahoo search results are beyond garbage.

we are exactly in the same situation. Almost the same numbers.

The same story. I think something may be going on.

Hope that Yahoo will take note of few things.

They are showing lots of bad results

They have too many ads around their search results

They are very poor in terms of showing diverse news results from their Yahoo Search News.

In a perfect world, you would rank well in all search engine. but I agree google is a little more important.

I also have great results in Google, but not in Yahoo. However I have one highly competitive page that is doing well in Yahoo and I am trying to understand what is helping it. So far I think it is:

1. Keywords in Meta Title
2. Keyworks in Meta Description
3. Keywords in Meta Keywords... however it is working for three out of four keywords
4. Keywords in outbound links to other sites.
5. Keywords in the URL

I personally feel from an SEO point of view this page is inadequate as it does not feature the necessary keywords anywhere other than the Headline (H1).

I have also been searching the library for Yahoo specific tweaking but haven't found anything. Can members please share their insights

Im from Holland and everybody in this country is using Google. I have a few domains with sites and all my traffic is actually from google.. yahoo can i count on 1 hand.

The tips from Namaste are perfect.. but every self respectig SEO is using this already, it working for me and other for Google but other se's are :(

I was just laughing on my toilet when i saw that yahoo likes my images a lot... just a stupid php script who poops a image.... no content at all!

We have 75% results from Google with exactly the same position from Yahoo for the same search term.

I also noticed a steady decline in referrals from Yahoo over the past couple of months. What's nice is that as the Yahoo referrals decreased my G refs. seemed to go up 2 for every one y! I lost. I've got a 4 yr. old site and fought for about 2 years to get any kind of ranking in G. Y used to show me love but not anymore. Rankings in MSN are also stable and good. I agree w/ what people are saying ..if you're ranking good in G..DON'T MESS WITH IT to please Yahoo's disgusting results!

The fact that my site isn't thrown in with that garbage is a compliment right now. They'll get around to cleaning them up eventually so if u try to rank in that slop you'll get tossed the same way the others will.
