site:name query

9:24 am on Nov 24, 2005 (gmt 0)

For the past 4 months the command site:myname.com
has produced results in Yahoo.

But any actual text searches on some actual page content fail to bring the page up.

What is going on, is the site banned? I have really lost patience with Yahoo and need some input.

You have probably been banned for some arbitrary reason. If in Yahoo results there is no link to "cached" page, the page is not actually indexed by Yahoo and therefore no one can find your page in a search for key words in the page text. Yahoo also indexes just the URLs of many sites that they don't index, presumably to be able to claim the "largest" search index.

If site:yoursite.com returns no result and your site isn't quite new, then most probably it has been banned by Yahoo.

Your best bet is to probe into the factors (eg. Duplicate content, linking to bad neighborhood, massive keyword stuffing, hidden links to name a few.) that caused your site get banned and clean it up. Then send a re-inclusion request at reportsearchspam@yahoo.com and wait until it re-indexes your site.

I have a sort of similar query on site command.

I have very less knowledge on Yahoo search operators. I'll be glad if someone over here help me with my problem.

Recently we have migrated from asp to .Net.

So now i would like to search only new pages in yahoo. For Example: site:www.domainname.com aspx and also likewise site:www.domainname.com asp

So here i can differentiate between old and new pages indexed on Yahoo.

If i use the above queries on Google and MSN to find old and new pages i get the exact results.

Please HELP!
