Yahoo Site Description

Does it use Meta Tags?

Hi Guys,

I have a site which was listed on Yahoo (and actually this applies to MSN as well). When it was first indexed, i noticed they had used my meta description tag for the "description" of the site on Yahoo.

However, i then altered my description, to something more "appropriate". It seems now though, that both on Yahoo and MSN, that the description on Yahoo now isn't my meta tags, but rather the first chunk of text on the website?

Can anyone let me know why this has happened, and if there is anything I can do?

Andrew.

I believe Yahoo (and Google) sometimes display all or part of the meta description if they think it is relevant to the visitor's search query (read: if it contains the keywords they typed in)

Thanks Receptional Andy,

Except..my Meta Description definately contains the keywords that would be typed in a search...yet, it still doesn't use the meta tags....

Strange...

Andrew.
