The Yahoo update thread has been closed when just when the update finally seems to be kicking in some significant positives. Definitely still too much crap and redirects, some significant clean outs of crap, plus genuine authority sites doing better against clean, lightweight sites.

Today would have been a good time to announce the first weather report... :)

Still waiting for any/all changes to move to the other portals (i.e., altavista, alltheweb, etc).

Nothing has changed in the serps I follow for the last 3 weeks and 3 days on Yahoo.com except for a major keyword phrase which changed a week into the ugly update. It looks like they hand edited that keyword phrase serps since no other phrases have moved from the initial change and look pretty dreadful. Also, using the "" around the major keyword phrase brings back the initial ugly serps. Even that major phrase has not changed in 2 weeks and 3 days. None of the other Yahoo fed portals look even remotely close to Yahoo.com and actually are much better serps. Not sure why they do not go with those serps.

I agree with you SteveB. But, just on the opposite side.

Two of my sites just went off the serps' surface. I checked the cached version, it's caching 301 & 302 redirection pages from Verizon's superpages.

Does anyone have this kind of problem?

Dave_T, i seem to be experiencing the same problem. The site have been demoted probably due to "insufficient signals of quality" or some other penalty. As a result cashed version of the home page shows a 302 redirect from a much stronger domain that has a "click tracing script" pointing to me. I thought yahoo fixed that long time ago. I can't believe it - first google, now yahoo. MSN is the only friend left. I wonder for how long…

Not finding any changes in positions for my site too. I feel that Yahoo has not changed its algo nor updated. Everything is in the place what it was before update. It seems like they have just increased the database with lot of website pages.

IMO Yahoo has to work alot on its algo.

But I see changes and that troubles me greatly! One of my sites is nowhere just now for ANY of my targeted phrases... Before this update everything was great and my site was in top 10. How can I check the penalty? May be I overloaded the site with keywords or smth. I need to check what was wrong and why I'm nowhere in the SERPS.

MoveYourWebSEO:

Have you tried site:www.yoursite.com? If it returns just the Index page, it's likely you have been zapped by a filter. Only a manual review from Yahoo can fix you in that instance.

Yesterday, for few hours the serp was more clean.
Today it's about the same as last week...(worst..)

I think they are still experimenting...

is there an experiment for becoming irrelevant?

It is still the case that they are not showing the most relevant page from a given site in way too many cases, especially for 3+ kw searches. We see this on both commercial and info searches.

Site A
Page 1: widgets.com/
Page 2: widgets.com/blue-widgets/
Page 3: widgets.com/blue-widgets/small/

Search on "blue widgets" and Y will often show you Page 1 and/or Page 3, but not Page 2 (when Page 2 would be the most relevant page to show for the search, and until recently, did show for that search, but is now being filtered out).

My guess: This problem is a byproduct of trying to go after autogen kw/scraper sites; too heavy on the internal nav/kw filtering?

Also, too many poor quality subpages still showing from mega info/shopping/etc. sites.
