Noticing changes on a nearly daily basis.

In June, about 75% of my search engine traffic came from Google. The same percent or higher for all previous months as well.

In July, Yahoo came out to be about 75% of my total search engine traffic. Google didn't drop pages, but I have noticed that Yahoo now lists several thousand pages more for me than Google.

I stared checking daily, and I'm noticing 200-300 page bumps in Yahoo on a nearly daily basis. Anyone else experiencing similar results?

BTW - For the early days of this month, Yahoo is providing over 80% of my total search engine traffic.

Most likely what you are seeing is the current yahoo update which is reported to take 'a week or two' and should be nearing it's end.

How is your Google traffic doing? Same or less?

But as JC said, we are in the midst of an update.

My Google traffic is stagnant. No more or less really. It's just that usually my site get more hits from Google/Yahoo in a nearly linear fashion.

I'm not complaining though. I'll take Yahoo, but I'd love to rank high in both. <greed>

Our new site actually got killed in this update. It links to our main site and vice versa. It was not done to spam the engines but for our customers (they are very complimentary products that needed their own site and shopping cart) Went from 1,300 pages down to just one.. our main index page. So it looks like a penalty to me.

My guess is some competitor complained and some (so called) editor couldn't tell the difference between the sites. One has downloads of our product only while the other sells hard goods (books etc.) only. But someone could have looked at both and thought ...yep they are both widgets. It's seems awfully unfair that someones whim and lack of knowledge can just kill a years worth of work. Of course we sent three emails to different depts. (including the webmasterworld yahoo email address) to explain that we are being white hat and explained in detail the difference of the products. Just got the usual canned remarks from people who don't have the power to do anything anyway. The call center people they have are just there to send out canned answers.

Well we are not going to NOT interlink... at least Google doesn't seem to mind. Just unfair if you ask me that you can't have more than one site interlinking if the product is different. Of course the problem is editors do not know other peoples businesses well enough.

I think Yahoo and Google should be government regulated. They have too much power to hurt hard working companies.
