Does Overture Bidding Affect Yahoo Search Results?

I have a site that I work with that happens to be using overture to bid on key words. If I bid on keywords will that affect my yahoo searches?

For example let's say i am a pet store website and I will naturally show up top 10 for the word "dog collar"

Will advertising / bidding for "dog collar" in overture mess up my ranking?

I am asking because my site does not show up at all for any of several dozen key word searchs in yahoo. i am okay on google and msn. i have good quality inbound links. I happen to also advertise a lot on overture and am wondering if i am being filtered because of my participation in bidding for keywords.

I have not found anything on this topic so if some with experience in working with overture can shed light that would be great.

I think it is possible for yahoo to write a filtering algo to get rid of overture bidders from their searches. It might make them more money. not sure if that is what is happening with me.

Thanks

My associate thinks it does. He thinks that is the reason we were kicked out of Yahoo searches. We spend $600 a month and he says they are not going to let us back in while we spend that kind of money. I would hate to think that is the reason but stranger things have happen. In October we plan to put these paid searches on hold and stop the program for a while to see if we get back in Yahoo searches.

>>>My associate thinks it does.

It's a convenient excuse.

I'll repeat: Overture PPC has not harmed my rankings. Even in the current Yahoo my O PPCd sites are ranked number one for their important keyword phrases.

I don't think it does. We're all over Yahoo naturally and via Overture.

Just an excuse. And it would be counter productive to sabatoge a major revenue stream by punishing them from another side of the business.

We spend $600 a month

I know people that spend more than that per day and have excellent rankings. $600 really is nothing ;oP A lot of people have been kicked out of Y searches as a result of the most update. Your associate isn't the SEO is he?

I agree, Yahoo pay per click inclusion will not affect your search results. It seems to me the most recent update dumped quite a few sites, but it appears these sites are slowly getting re-indexed.

PPC and organic are not related. Bidding in PPC will not effect your rankings - it's Yahoo's bad algo you have to look at.
