Site Omitted from Search - Scraper Sites Shown on Yahoo

Is this normal?

For most of my keyword searches (non-competitive until the scrapers & co. got hold of me) I rank 1st & 2nd. 1st is my home page and 2nd is an inside page, but not the most important sub-page but a sub-sub-page. Is this normal?

Until recently there were reasonable search results below me. Now it's mostly just scrapers and quasi-directories usually with my title, keywords or url in their content. Is this normal?

If I search for my domain name without the .com extension and some keyword, I get the results mentioned above but all my pages with those keywords don't show until I click on the "omitted from search" link. Usually they outrank most of the scrapers/directories in this extended search. Is this normal?

I'm really thankful that I'm still #1 and #2 but the rest of the serps looks to me like a bunch of garbage. Should I contemplate going after these scrapers and quasi-directories or simply ignore them? I run a non-commercial site. I have some time on my hands usually. Most of them don't appear to have any adsense or advertising on them.

I can't imagine why I attracted this attention from scrapers and quasi-directories. This was a google PR0 site on every page until their last PR update. The search gets from 500-20,000 total links.

If you are unhappy about the Yahoo serps, and it makes you feel better, you are free to complain to Yahoo. Please keep in mind that WebmasterWorld is not a place for reporting spam.

You're experience is abnormal. Good luck.

I came to WW for help and all I get is your terse reply which isn't very helpful. How do you get the idea that I'm reporting spam? You could at least have expanded on what is abnormal. Good luck to you too.

Go after them tooth and nail! Over time people have had their sites replaced with the scrapers if left unchecked. You were probably targeted because of your top ranking on a particular keyword.

>>>How do you get the idea that I'm reporting spam?

I never had that idea. I'm only advising you to keep that in mind.

>>>You could at least have expanded on what is abnormal.

Your question was, "Is this normal?" My answer was No, it's not normal. It's a straightforward question with a straightforward answer. What else is there to say?

I had 3 "is this normal" questions. So am I to assume that they are all abnormal? Is there any chance you might explain what the normal condition would be, instead of just parsing semantics?
