Flash Sites and Yahoo

Does Yahoo have a bias against Flash sites?

I know search engine spiders don't like Flash sites, but do directory based SEs like Yahoo have a bias as well? Will the fact the you submit a Flash site to the editors make a hurt your chances of getting listed?

I would make sure that you have two versions fo your users......a flash version as well as a strictly HTML version.

I think usabiltiy is key, and speed, and since a few of the key directories have human reviewers, I would take caution.

[added note: If you were really intent on using Flash, a way to have the site rank well would be to use cloaking.]

the obvious way to use Flash is to have an html index page with a Flash or non Flash option...SEs can then simply spider the non Flash option

I'm not trying to start a debate of Flash VS HTML here, I was just wondering if a purely Flash site being reviewed by a Yahoo editor would cause problems? (I have both a Flash and an HTML site)

Hi Ottatheblue,

Check out this thread where this same issue was discussed:

FYI, a great way to find old information that has been shared here is by using the site search function on the top left.

Good luck getting your site listed!
