What if Inktomi Slurp Doesn't Visit?

What purpose does Inktomi serve?

My sites have been out of Yahoo for 5-6 months. I keep making repairs and trying to comply with the guideline policies.

I have noticed that Inktomi's slurp has stopped visiting our site but Yahoo slurps my index several times a day. What purpose does the inktomi slurp serve? Is it responsible for indexing a site or what? Many posts suggest if Inktomi stops visiting than you are helpless.

Any thoughts?

yep, I had previously pfi into inktomi - once yahoo bought them out thats when my sites vanished. My opinion is that Y! think if I was willing to pay before I should be willing to pay now and since Im not they wont let me in.

My index page gets hit all the time by Y!, but with the ban they have in place I will never get back in.

I have experienced the same thing. No wonder they refuse to tell anyone why they are kicked out of their database.

Slurp visits my site but only takes a page or two at a time(it hits pages besides the index page too). The only pages in the index are my index page which is listed twice.

I suspect my problems with Yahoo are because I was in the PFI program with Inktomi but now refuse to pay for the new service they offer. I see others are starting to think this as well.

Do you guys have PFI accounts with no money in them or are your accounts gone as well? I have an account that I stopped putting money in and wonder if it would help to tell them to cancel it completely.

...just a thought :)
