Press release over here [biz.yahoo.com]

Yahoo! Search will dedicate hardware and resources to support Wikipedia... Wikipedia content will become available... through Yahoo! Search via shortcuts that are automatically displayed above the relevant search results...

The shortcuts will become available within the coming weeks.

This makes sense.

I suspect Yahoo is going for a manual-algo hybrid solution to search results, and integrating wikipedia intelligently fits perfectly with that strategy.

This is also handy because if gives Yahoo a very strong opportunity to compete in terms of reference capability against Google.

Want to know some obscure fact about something? Search on yahoo and get the relevant Wikipedia result.

Google has to match this. I can't see how they can't.

Between this and the CC thing, Yahoo is making all the right moves.
