Sitewide Penalties?

Is yahoo applying this?

Just had a site penalized today. Pretty new site. I bought a site-wide link, so it boosted the inbound links from just a couple, to a few thousand links (most coming from 1 site).

Today the site is gone, with only the home page listed.

I haven't seen automatic penalties applied like this, so I thought it was newsworthy.

Has anybody seen this?

How is slurp spidering your site? I am interested to know if a penalty would mean that slurp stays limited to robots.txt and index page. Last week, my site went from number one to oblivion. It doesnt even rank for its unique content in quotes or for its unique domain. This tells me penalty. This drop happened coincident with the big update, but I had also changed hosts and file formats the week before (from traditional asp to .aspx). BUT, slurp still spidering the entire site everyday, getting difft pages with each visit.

Was I penalized during the update, or just dropped because of site changes? Is there hope?

Yeah, one page on my site has dropped from #1 position for 2 and half years to nowhere. Interestingly it still has all the pages indexed with site: search. I am still getting some traffic from yahoo from other pages but one category page which was getting 200 uniques a day is gone from the SERP. I don't know how a good ranking page for years can disappear WITHOUT penalty. There was no server down time. Only that page lost its ranking I think. It is still #1 on MSN. It used to be #1 on Google until a year ago when I changed the domain name and 301'd to new domain name.

Is there a page penalty or something like that? I hope it is just a fluke since it was bringing in very good/targetted traffic.
