Since about December this is what has happened:

December:
- All pages except for homepage dropped.
- Slurp still crawls 1000s of pages.

Early January:
- 50-200 old (not updated) pages float in and out of index
- Slurp crawls 20-30 pages that are very old (still exist but are no longer linked to any other pages.)

Late January:
- Homepage only in index.
- No visits from Slurp

Today:
- Homepage only.
- Slurp crawling pages that have never existed
- Slurp crawling pages that do exist with a directory structure that never existed.

i.e.

www.example.com/abn.htm
(page the from Australian Bamboo Network?... never existed on my site)

www.example.com/aelectshop/MYPAGE/aepage.htm

The MYPAGE does exist on my site but not as a directory. It should be MYPAGE.ASP. The directories 'aelectshop' & 'aepage.htm' do not exist on my site.

A couple of of the pages/directories requested are gibberish (or foreign?): nrk_sogn_og_fjordane.htm & /drfujisawa_tac/

About 30-40 pages request like this. (No existing pages were requested)

Very strange.

Yup, I've been getting the same garbled hits, with paths constructed seemingly at random. Slurp does this occasionally. Must be some really weird bug in the bot...
