Yahoo Search landing pages

How much $$$ is Y! really making off of their search results?

I have a feeling that Yahoo's conversion rates are through-the-roof on their search landing pages.
Here are my options BEFORE I can see organic search results (in order of how I noticed them):

- >7 Overture links
- Targeted links into their Local or Shopping engine (eg: find *keyword* on Y! Shopping)
- Links to Video, News, Directory search
- Sign-in link for My Y! & Y! Mail

Finally, I notice the organic search results. Certainly did take a while, though.

Why am I complaining? I just hit #2 on Y! for a big one-word term and saw only a 5% increase in traffic. 5 freaking percent! What is wrong with this picture?!

Coupled with the recent studies on user behavior (see [webmasterworld.com ]), one has to wonder how much common Y! users are actually using the engine for it's organic search results. Hmm..

Y!, where did your search engine go? Anyone else have a similar beef?

Yahoo is very alien to me. I just don't understand it. Google serves the user and searcher...whereas, Yahoo, it seems, serves the advertiser more and more. I used to be a Yahoo patriot...but now, I basically only use them to check listings and for their movie listing lookup service. ;-)

How do you get listed properly on Yahoo? What's the cheapest way, I mean. ;-)
