Free submission software can cause problems with submission to the SE's...you should submit each page manually. Also, your site is going to need some further work if you want to be accepted by the major directories. For one, you will need to make your images load faster. Just keep the questions coming and we'll help you out along the way.
What a lovely concept for a site! There is, however, a little work needed to get the site ready for search engines and directories. Submission will get you in, but it's making your site search engine friendly (optimization) that will determine your relative rankings.
Since the site is mainly under construction, it isn't yet ready for submission to directories - so don't do it. For search engine placement, you'll need, as the basic foundation for your site, a good list of keyword phrases.
Examples:
childrens stories
online childrens stories
childrens games
online childrens games
Enter these phrases in the tool provided here [searchengineworld.com] and see the variety of choices you have, keeping in mind that only singular will be listed, and you'll need a combination of both singular and plural.
You'll need keywords used in page text (high on the pages), in page titles, and in the text of links to the appropriate pages. There's more, including meta tags, but this is a start.
As Froggyman mentioned, some free sites are banned from search engines, but right now Angelfire is OK with Google, Alta Vista and Lycos. That's all I've checked.
If you never have intentions of using a domain name, or deriving income from the site, frankly if I were in your place I'd consider doing the site at a women's community with a heavy emphasis on child-rearing. In addition to the potential for search engine traffic, there's a possibility of traffic from within the community, not to mention that if you develop it enough to win a community award, you'd have more traffic than you'd know what to do with.
You might consider the possibility of using a domain name eventually. If you could get enough traffic, you could do some appropriate affiliate programs down the road, and possibly get enough of a little income to cover the hosting costs. Just a side thought though, and highly speculative.
