I've recieved more than 5k uniques from yahoo this month to a site that is not even done...
This page neither has incoming nor outbound links, therefore isn't indexed by google, got no PR and should (as for as I know) not exist to search engines.
How is it possible that i got some damn amazing ranks on yahoo? I mean.. the sites are optimized already of course but only on-site.

This is the first time I saw something like this happen.

Is there an explanation for this?

I have a site with only about 6 recip links that ranks very well on Y!. Got a feeling they could care less about link exchanges.

should (as for as I know) not exist to search engines.

If its a .COM/.EDU/.ORG/.NET then its trivial to pick up new domain registrations from so-called DNS zone file, with 24h delay. It gets harder with country specific domains like .CO.UK, but its only harder for small fish rather than giant sharks such as Google or Yahoo.

Either way there is no reason to feel sad about getting lots of traffic -- you must have content that is in demand! :)

yep I had that in mind actually... I am now going to run a nice test on two of my pc's ... one with toolbar installed and one without...

lets see if it was the toolbar or the whois who made this happen.

Thanks for the responses even though the answer was rather obvious lol

Could be that the domain was indexed in a previous incarnation and yahoo spidered the site based on its historical data.
