1st - how long are you all noticing that it takes, once submitted, for the spider to crawl your site?

2nd - how long afterwards do you notice your first page rankings?

Seems like the standard is about 3-6 months on both questions..which no real standard in how this occurs.

What gets me is, how after the fallujah battles, were there websites top ranked when you typed that word into yahoo only days after the first battle? I feel like the yahoo and googles out there need to come to some consensus as to what helps your pages, what hurts your pages, how long it will take etc..so that everyone has an equal shot if they research it through documents on their websites regarding these topics.

Anyway, thanks. :)

In an ideal situation, using SiteMatch will result in your site being crawled and indexed at lightning fast speeds.

Of course, if you're like me and don't want to spend the $299 US or whatever it is, the free submission service will likely see you indexed...in a month, I believe? It's actually pretty fast now. But to get top rankings, I'd give it at least three months. That is if your site is optimized, and you're actively building links for it.

The highest turnaround time I have had on Y is 4 months. I built a site and built about 100 links for it, over the period of a couple months. 4 months after it was up it had top rankings for its keywords.

As for your felujah - likely returned pages were on CNN or networks like that.

Well, I have just put up a new website last week (brand spankin new) and it already ranks in the 200s for my main, very competitive keyword...
That's probably the best thing about Yahoo - no sandbox whatsoever :)

I was looking for an answer to this question. Slurp has requested probably 20000+ pages this month but only shows 480 with site:example.com What would be the normal time frame to see some of those pages in the index?

thanks,
