I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen at all. AOL just keeps getting bigger everyday and Yahoo could use a boost like that.

If Yahoo was an ISP, it would be a different story... or if it signed a deal with 1 or 2 major national ISPs to provide their default homepages. But as it stands, AOL is a multi-faceted service with a monthly fee for access (the actual World Wide Web is only one small button in AOL land...), while Yahoo is a website. A big, fancy, multi-faceted website, albeit, but still just a website.

After my oh-so-brief sojurn in AOL land, I must admit they've got a GREAT thing going for computer novices, and computer 'regulars' who just aren't interested in becoming techie geeks. They hand you everything on a brightly colored, friendly, talking platter.

Yahoo, on the other hand, has to compete against every other portal/directory/free email site/news outlet on the web for it's users' eyeballs, and folks like me may use Yahoo on a fairly regular basis for various things, but we aren't giving them money, and we aren't clicking on their banners.
