I recently submitted a site to Yahoo through the BE system. My webhost had some technical difficulties yesterday for about an hour and it just happened to be the same hour that Yahoo wanted to visit my site to review it. They returned an email saying the site could not be found.

Now this was not my fault and may not of been the fault of my webhost (the reason is yet to be confirmed). Has anyone had any experience of getting yahoo to review a site again without having to fork out more cash? Would I need to send any tech info about the outage to them as proof?

Any info would be appreciated.

I had this happen once. If you just reply to the email they sent you and explain what happened they should review your site without any problem. Just remember to be polite, honest, and courteous.

Hi Doozer, and welcome to WmW!

What DrCool said has worked for us before. Try to reply to that email as soon as possible and make sure you explain in some detail what happened.

If everything is okay with your site, it should get added.

How long does a reconsideration usually take and at what point should I email yahoo and inquire about my reconsideration? Also is that thwe thing to do if I dont get any response from reconsideration?

Thanks for the advice DrCool - I replied to them within 48 hours of their email and said that it was due to a technical error outside of my control etc etc.

They accepted the site within 24 hours of my reply!

Seems like Yahoo aren't all the heartless money grabbing corporation they sometimes appear to be!

That's great, congrats Doozer.
They can be very reasonable. I just had an editor email me a reply to an email I sent him. One of our sites got dropped and he emailed explaining that it was because one of the pages of the site was making his browser crash.
He said to email him when the site was fixed and he would re-add it.
All it takes is perseverance and using a nice tone when addressing them.
