HISTORY.
1. before Aug 2004, website has high ranking on Google and Yahoo.
2. website updated in Aug 2004, with the urls of most pages changed (not the homepage, of course)
3. Google index updated, and rankings recover within about 1 week.
4. many pages still not indexed by Yahoo, and Yahoo rankings are still floundering (after 4 months)
YAHOO STATUS.
1. virtually every url under the site that existed BEFORE Aug 2004 is indexed by Yahoo, but the cache shows the new website's Page Not Found page, which has links to the rest of the website. This seems to indicate that Yahoo is crawling (or should I say slurping?) our site.
2. most NEW urls from the reorganized website are NOT indexed by Yahoo.
3. for pages on the site that are NOT in the Yahoo index, the link:http://www.blah.com/blah1/blah2.htm tool on Yahoo DOES reveal pages that link to this un-indexed page.
--- I think I adhere to the theory that Yahoo's database was corrupted, and hasn't recovered yet.
The thing that gets me about the current status of my website is that even though Yahoo seems to have not indexed a particular page, I CAN find pages that link to the page by using Yahoo's "link:http://www.bbbbb" command. So, it seems that the page, or at least the url, is stored SOMEWHERE in Yahoo's index.
Hope its what you were looking for
If you mean the beta search that was mentioned in another thread, I believe the link is [mysearch.yahoo.com...]
Mmm, it sure does give *very* different results - and much more favourable to me.
Anyone know why this is so much different, and when this search is going to become the default?
