Okay,

I just passed a year of trying to get listed in the directory at yahoo. What is the problem? I submit the site like clockwork every 3 months as per their instructions. I swear, it is harder to get listed in the yahoo directory then dmoz!

Anyone have any remedies for this? The site is non-profit, listed in dmoz, very reputable and also becoming fairly popular. It is for a specific state in the US and doesn't step on any other websites as far as I can tell. Why is this such a problem?

I have several other listings in yahoo for other websites that are for profit and I have payed for them yearly, some are up to five years old.

Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Just pay to get in. Its always been hideous trying to get in without waving money in their faces. If its non-profit I don't think they re-bill annually.

Does anyone know how I can have my site removed from the directory? It's no longer "active," but I can't seem to get a straight answer from the customer service folks.

webdude - if the site is even remotely commercial (even if it got just got adsense), then you probably going to have to pay (only on very rare occasions will a commercial site get in for free)

The site is definitely non-profit. No advertising, no google ads, no adwords, nothing. It even states on the site that it is non-profit. I dish out my own money for hosting and all development is done by me. It is really a labor of love on a subject that anyone can do for next to nothing.

I guess I just don't get it.

I have submitted a non-profit youth org site several times over the course of 2.5 years.

My concern over the non-listing at this point is limited to being mildly annoyed.

Good thing I was grandfathered in.
