I see many with the sign powered by Yahoo search - with different results then the normal Yahho search, but the results look newer then those on Yahoo.com or what is going on.

Y! has many different result sets which they change on Y!.com on a daily/weekly basis.

However each of their partner sites receives only one version so is less likely to change.

Overture is owned by Y!
Overture is a paid inclusion program, full of paying advertisers. When you click on their link, they pay some $ to the site hosting the link.

Y! search is a general WWW search; it will find anything. The "sponsor results" at the top (and at the bottom, and in the right column) of the Y! SERPs are naturally gleaned from the Overture program.

I still think the results are better and newer then the Original Yahoo.com search and mostly it is just the top3-4 that is sponsored, but the question is why is the free web search results better and newer then on yahoo.com

The results on Yahoo appear to be fresher than some of the partner sites like MSN, Overture, etc. I think partner SERPs are not updated as frequently.

I verified this by checking cached versions, and descriptions of my pages.

the same here I changed my title and it showed 4 days later on the partner sites, but not on yahoo, Im not even listed as good there.

I've seen my sites update on MSN 5 days before it updated on Y.com

now it looks like yahoo.com and the powered of yahoo SEs is the same, but not to the newer but to older versions of rankings.
