Here's the brief story:

I was playing around with Yahoo search, and i looked up a site i know well. This particular site is in Danish, and it is not in the Yahoo Directory.

The interesting thing was the snippet:

The snippet was in two languages, first Danish, then English. Neither the Danish nor the English part was from that site. The descriptions in those two languages were quite fair to the site, and they had the same meaning, although they were not direct translations.

That made me wonder... it's a very nice feature (in this case), but i've never noticed that before... what's going on, really?

Of course i tried an exact string search, both in Yahoo and in Google, to find out where those descriptons came from. Here's the strange thing: It turns out that the descriptions are from two unrelated directory sites that this site is in. This particular snippet is two concatenated snippets from directory sites in two different languages!

Neither of these sites has any ties to the target site whatsoever. Both of them has quite some IRL authority value, though (as in a publicly known organization).

Anybody else seen this, either with an English site, or a foreign language site?
