Yahoo ranking algo for directory pages?

I operate a site in a non-mainstream/non-children-oriented sector. Some of the highest traffic keyword search result pages list the first 10-20 sites exclusively with Yahoo Directory sites. After the top 20, all other sites are listed/ranked according to the regular algorithm.

What I'm trying to figure out, is if my site gets into the Yahoo Directory, how do I go about bringing my site to rank #1 out of the other 20 Yahoo Directory sites, that are listed for a search term? I assume the site with the most anchor text backlinks, and a decent title/description would be ranked #1 (like the regular algorithm), but the ranking process for the top 10-20 sites seems almost random. Any help regarding this matter would be really appreciated. Thanks!
