Back around the first of the year, I change both directories and file names and file types for my website, in order to optimize my pages for search results. I had mainly used abbreviations for both in my original design. An example of what I did is:
Old: [mysite.com...]
New: [mysite.com...]
After making all the changes, I created 301 redirects to the new pages and deleted all of the old directories and pages.
After a month or so Google stopped listing the old file names and is only using the newer file names, and I have moved up in the rankings.
But Yahoo still lists the older file names for my pages. There are a few of my pages that it also has list using the newer file names, but these are usually listed several pages back in the search results.
I rank much better with Yahoo than I do with Google, so I don't want to mess anything up. But I am afraid that at some point Yahoo may drop my older file names.
After eight months, why hasn't Yahoo picked up the changes yet?
Why hasn't Yahoo indexed all of the newer pages?
And why does Yahoo list the newer pages that it has index, further back in the results, than the old pages that are really just redirects? anything to do with .shtml verse .html, or maybe using too long of a file name?
