Yahoo SPAMS it's users

Trying to get me to search on Y.

I have a SBC/Yahoo DSL account and when I logged on today online I got an email trying to get me to use their search engine. They said type in gas prices (city), (city) traffic and (city) weather. They claim to have a SPAM filter but yet they SPAM you. I never opted in for that. I have had this as a free email account for years.

Let me see if I got this right... You've been using a free email account that Yahoo provided for years and you're indignant about receiving one spam email to that account?!? ;)

I'm teasing you ogletree! But my antique Hotmail account gets spammed by Hotmail routinely (and not excessively) and it just seems to me that's the price I pay for "free email."

I've been getting spam from Yahoo at least once per week for at least a year.

I've tried to use their "Spam" button to block it, but it doesn't let me...

You probably haven't got your account's "marketing preferences" options set to opt out of these types of emails.

I have 5 yahoo email accounts for various aspects of my business and I don't get any marketing stuff from Y! at all - I've opted out.

It is not free any more it is not my ISP email account that is different. I understand a free account. Also I have never asked for that if I have a preference it is new and they added it in the on position.

You are way too sensitive. What did you lose, 3 seconds of your life? If you don't want to read the email, then don't read the email.

Do you get brochures, catalogs, and other advertisements via postal mail? Does your credit card company send you other offers with your bill and throughout the month?

Same thing dude. Relax.

Doesn't really have much to do with the corporation at all. When I use a company's product, and they send me an email about another service or product...I either delete it, or I read it.

I think there's a large difference between viagra, toner, or regular spam, and an email from a company that you supplied your email address to.....a company that you signed up with. That isn't spam, it is cross-selling.

I have ISP email accounts from other ISP's and have never received a non system related email from them. Plus I have had this as an ISP for several months and this is the first. I thought it would be different with an ISP. SBC/Yahoo DSL. If I could get cable modedm I would in a heartbeat. For many other reasons this is just one more why I would switch.

I'm not really that upset just wnated to talk about it.
