Greetings,

If something has already been posted on this topic, please point me in the right direction.

I have been paying for listings on Yahoo and Alta Vista, but since Yahoo bought the latter, I've received email stating that my Express include has been changed to a Site Match PPC program through Overture.

Here's the question. I still pay my annual fee to Yahoo, and do PPC through Overture. Is there any benefit in paying for Site Match besides a potentially lower PPC ($.15/click vs the $.17/click I present pay on Overture)?

Also, has anyone checked to see if listings through one get higher ranking than listings throug the other?

Hey there,

Here's my attempt at an answer:
1. Using SiteMatch or just getting in organiclly, should result in the same ranking.
2. SiteMatch and Overture's CPC are two very different creatures. Sure you get lower CPC through SiteMatch, but you have no control over ranking/positioning. With Oveture, you do.

I dont know what your budget is like, but if the only difference for you between CPC and Sitematch is 2 cents, I would not be any hurry to change to SiteMatch - if you are fine with the results on Overture.

Additionally, are you already well indexed on Yahoo? If so, you may not need SiteMatch at all.

Overture Site Match repalces the previous Inktomi, Fast and AltaVista paid inclusion programs.

All of these programs have been grandfathered into the new program until such time as their subscription naturally expires.

OSM is availble directly from Overture or from 6 launch partners.

OSM does not improve rankings. ALthough there is a cost per click component, you can not bid for rankings. You must use SEO skills to improve your rankings.

So what is the benefit of doing both OSM and Overture Precision Match? Some people click on ads, others click on SERPS. Also, the distribution of both programs does have some overlap but they are slightly different.
