Submitting to Yahoo and Positiontech

I have a new site that I want to get into Yahoo, and i don't want to wait, so I am thinking of the $300 per year fee.

Question, is there any value in also paying PositionTech to boost ranking sooner? Or should I just wait for Yahoo to index my site.

Can I do one without the other?

Submitting to the directory is the $300 per year that you are talking about. This should give you a boost in ranking in Google but doesn't seem to have a lot of impact in Yahoo ranking.

Submitting to one of the OSM partners (such as Position Tech, Trellian, ineedhits.com, Marketleap, Infospider etc) will not boost your ranking.

It will get you into Yahoo! (and other search partners) quickly but it will not give you a ranking boost.

PFI does not improve ranking.

Remember that listing in the directory is per domain.

Listing in OSM is per URL.

Thanks Warren. To make sure, you mean that if I already have a specific URL in Yahoo, paying for inclusion is pointless and will not effect its rank what so ever, right?

If you already have a URL in Yahoo! and are happy with your ranking, then OSM is probably not right for you.

But if you want to tweak it then the 48 hour refresh is a great way to get that happening. It provides with a short turn around time to see what impact the onsite changes have on your ranking.

Not only that, OSM will make sure you stay there for 12 months.

Being honest, the biggest benefit of OSM is getting the URL in their quickly. Unless you have the time, energy and skill to take advantage of the 48 hour refresh, then it may not make business sense.

Thanks again. That makes sense.

Does it also boost your traffic? I mean, visitors really might come from Yahoo's directory?

The other disadvantage is you will have to pay per click. For me it makes more sense to wait and get the sites listed through links, and thus avoiding the cost per click.
