Yahoo success

...but no idea why!

I have a site which is doing well in Yahoo SERPS, but it is unexpected. I noticed it when I lost Google rankings/traffic one month, then gained traffic the next - but from Yahoo (and MSN, incidentally).

Obviously I am happy about this, but I'm nervoous about making any changes to the site as I don't know what I did to get the high rankings in the first place!

Does anyone have any suggestions on the following:
1. What the best on-page/off-page strategy is for Yahoo success
2. What "tools" are available for tracking these factors - is there any equivalent tool like the Google PR toolbar, and backlinks check?
3. Is there a connection between paying for inclusion in the Yahoo directoy several years ago, and the new SERPS?

An unusual post this one, "how *did* I do this" versus "how *do* I do this"!
