I just saw that CNN has changed from Google to Yahoo Search, which might not mean a lot for traffic, but from branding point of view its a big loss for Google.

Nice.

Looks like they need to fix a few things tho. Clicking "next" brings up [cnn.com...] instead of another page of results

On this page:

[cnn.com...]

The Y! logo has alt text "powered by" in the upper right, but on the left hand column, the alt text says "powered by yahoo!".

So...did they just flip the switch or did I miss a press release?

I'm sure it was still Google search yesterday - the cache for Monday shows Google as well.

CNN also began running Overture's contextual ads a few weeks ago. This had to have been a blow to Google AdSense, since AdSense is by far the leader for providing news sites with contextual advertising.

It is also worth noting that the parent company of CNN is TimeWarner (formerly known as AOLTimeWarner), which makes the non-Google decisions by CNN quite interesting. AOL just exercised its options to buy $22 million worth of shares (7.4 million Google shares, 3% of the company).

The Y web search from CNN produces different results compared to a Y home page query.

Interesting to see Y and TimeWarner cozying up. Especially in light of recent speculation [nydailynews.com] that TW is open to selling AOL to Yahoo (who is presumably kicking the tires).

At an asking price of $20B, though...

Speculation aside, Yahoo and the entertainment industry have been enjoying a mutually beneficial synergy, and this move plays into Yahoo's strength in delivering the advertising goods in that area.

Weird - for our main keyword1 keyword2 term, we show as #1 from the CNN search, but we're nowhere to be found in Yahoo! SERPs for the same term.

Are we sure these are Yahoo! based results?

It's an extension of their origional agreement:

I think lost in the article is that CNN is switching from G to Y for search. Interesting move

It is what you see on Overture below/without the sponsored listings.

About time they put 2 and 2 together for one fine product!

I love CNN and Yahoo...

CNN marketing team knows alot and sees alot in the business world. I dont blame CNN for their good judgement of removing Google, it should of been done sooner.
