Yahoo! Directory -- Going from not-for-profit to for-profit site.

I have had a free submit entry in the Yahoo! directory for years. And my site has been not-for-profit with no ads.

Now I am going to try some ads. I am just curious if anyone has an idea how quickly Yahoo! will spot this and pull my free listing from their directory. If the ads aren't successful, I'll pull them out but would hate to have been taken out of the directory.

I know that if I keep the ads I'll have to pay their $300/year charge to stay in the directory.

Thanks, Peter

You seem to know more than Yahoo... ;)

If your site has been added at a time when there was no fee (or as in my case, only a one time fee), then you'll simply stay in that way. As far as I can tell, it's very rare that an old free listing gets removed from the directory.

Thanks, that's good to know.

Though I will be cautious and I don't think I'll submit any updates for the way they list my site. They might see the ads and pull it. Whereas otherwise they don't likely to go checking free listings to see if ads have been added since the original listing was made.

Nothing wrong with ads on a free listed site.

I also have had a free listing for the last 4 years and have been selling products the whole time.
