I've never had a site removed from any SE before except for this one case. My biggest site is in a non-competitive category - a labor of love, and very large to boot. Roughly 10k referrers from google.

But for some reason it was banned from Inktomi about 5 months ago. No clue why - I dont even really do any SEO on this site - nothing that would make me even pause to think.

Anyway, whats weird is that the bot keeps coming back - about 10-15 times a day. But all it does is read robots.txt [which simply disallows a specific directory] and thats it. Its ready my robots file over 1,000 times without a single page indexed.

In exasperation, I even paid to get into the Y! directory [as I read somewhere here on WebmasterWorld by Tim that getting you into the directory gets you indexed].

No luck :/

Anyone having the same issues and/or know how to fix this?

thats a penalty..taking the robots.txt endless times day and nothing else..

your anecdote is consistent with many other webmsters experience....the main labour of their time is the one that gets the chop....in another thread Tim says he is looking at ways of implementing a FAIRER and CONSISTENT system across the board..i know how i interpret that but i will leave you to do your own interpretation....

Its really weird considering everything - I am very happy that Tim is around - the open communication is nice :)
