Will I disappear

Still a little confused...

I paid for inclusion last year for Inktomi. So obviously the url I added shows up. But so do several of my other web pages. So, after 4/15 will these go away? I've never paid anything for PPC so I am a little confused at the whole thing.

I have noticed a lot of traffic from Yahoo lately, but I'd like to think that's because many of my other pages show also.

The URLs that you paid to be in the Inktomi directory will no longer receive Yahoo! traffic after April 15th.

You will continue to receive clicks from the Inktomi index.

Yes the situation is confusing. What I have gleaned from reading the threads is that the listing that resulted from your Inktomi PFI will disappear after April 15 (it only appeared on Yahoo for a “trial” period as a bonus), unless the free Yahoo spider picks it up. Your other listings should remain. Let’s see if this really happens.

I noticed that SLURP only hits the one page I submitted and then leaves. So I have to assume that will go away. That sucks since I do get quite a bit of traffic from it. I think I'm going to wait until after the 15th, see the status and then go from there. Is that a bad idea?

Wow, my understanding is that your URL's would continue to be in the Inktomi index until your previous subscription runs out but would be removed from Yahoo search.

Obviously, you would not get the benefits of the previous Inktomi programme after April 15, and your rankings in the new Yahoo network may change, but the URL's would still be there because it's in Inktomi for the subscription period.

Here is what I was told by a reseller of the old Ink PFI when I enquired:

<< Your Inktomi, FAST and AskJeeves urls (depending on what you formerly subscribed to) are still active and indexed under your current annual contract.
Inktomi and FAST are no longer accepting renewal or new url submissions to their paid inclusion
programs. Overture Site Match is Inktomi's and FAST's replacement for the paid inclusion
service. Your legacy Inktomi and FAST urls will continue to be indexed through their
annual contract. AskJeeves Url submissions have NOT been affected by this change.

Existing Inktomi and FAST "Paid Inclusion" customers will NOT incur a CPC through their annual contract. If you elect to roll them over to the new Overture Site Match service they will incur a CPC. Existing Inktomi urls are currently included for free in the new Yahoo! search portal until April 15, 2004.
After April 15, 2004 they will be removed from the Yahoo! search portal ONLY. They will continue
to be indexed and made available to former Inktomi search portals. If you wish to have them
included in the new Yahoo! search portal you will need to roll them over to the Overture Site Match service within your subscribers center.>>>

Depending on how many kewords you need and how competitive they are, you might consider the Overture PPC program as a stop gap until (or if) your listings show up in organic Yahoo listings.

As of 4-15 we'll know what URLs the free spider has picked up and which ones it hasn't.

April 15th? How appropriate. It's time to pay up on all ends for those in the U.S.
