I remember seeing a post to Yahoo Labs about a demo on NUTCH. For a life of mine, i couldn't find it. help!

I think Overture donated either machines or money to Nutch. Let's see, research.overture.com redirects to labs.yahoo.com. Ah, here it is:
[labs.yahoo.com...]

My favorite feature is the "explain" link on search results. So if you search for "nutch" on the demo, you can click to see why sportsline.com is top result. I liked playing with the demo a lot; it's a good way to learn about things like tf (term frequency) and idf (inverse document frequency).
