Just had a browse through some SERPs on yahoo, checking our site out for keywords and was quite suprised to see our site top for our keyword, Gr8 ill call the boss i thought, he'll be well chuffed!
problem is on his machine - windows 98 running internet explorer were 7th for our keyword,
but on my xp pro machine running internet explorer were number 1 for our keyword!
is this normal?

Yeah, right now I would say it was normal. At the PubCon, Tim from Yahoo said they would be trying new algos and always tweaking their engine. It could be that you did one search and got results from one algo, and did another search and got results from another algo.
