Hi all,

Does anyone know (especially Mike and Tim) what the yahoo crawler thinks of redirects.

We have a site that is multilingual and all sections start with the language code i.e. /en or /fr or /de etc. When they user comes in to www.anything.com we send them directly to www.anything.com/en/ as this is the default language for the site.

Would this cause a problem and does anyone have any suggestions for what to do.

Thanks in advance for any caring souls out there...

Qsilver911,

Great question!

I hope you do find a "caring soul" to answer this question.

Slurp follows redirects. Generally we will index both the www.site.com with the content of the /en/ and the www.site.com/en/URL with its own content. The version that will show up in the results will be the one with the higher link popularity which is generally the root page.
I covered this in my presentation at pubcon- Not sure if these presentations have been posted yet.
