...the company has begun bidding on thousands of keywords to promote its many services through BidBuddy... The move means Yahoo will be buying thousands of relevant keywords across the major European pay-per-click networks, including rivals Google, Espotting, Mirago, and WebFinder, as well as its own network Overture. It will be buying search terms in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and UK, from where the campaign is being run.

Interesting that Yahoo's using an SEO firm to promote its services, as opposed to handling campaigns themselves.

I wonder, why didn't they just trade clicks between those networks and Y!'s instead of hitting their pockets with cash. It's probably pocket change for them anyway.

Maybe they wanna get the word out and people will use bidbuddy and then yahoo will buy them ;)
