Reuters has a report that Yahoo announced a deal to provide a co-branded high-speed internet access. Seems like a huge deal for Yahoo. Unlike AOL, who is having problems with it's ad department, Yahoo is a black belt at squeezing advertising gold from it's audience share.

Rogers Cable, Canada's largest cable operator, and Internet services company Yahoo on Tuesday announced a partnership to provide co-branded high-speed Internet access. Additionally, Rogers/AT&T Wireless and Yahoo said they plan to expand their existing agreement to provide Rogers/AT&T Wireless customers with mobile extensions of Yahoo's communication and information services.

At this rate, Yahoo could find itself locking up more eyeballs around the world than anyone else.

Good move!

I would say this is comparable to them partnering up with verizon/ameritech DSL here in Illinois and other parts of the USA. I saw this last night but was not sure how important it is...

It does seem as though they are trying to take over some of the High Speed Internet market.

Yahoo has 4.9 Million subscribers, most of them through it's High Speed Internet partnership with SBC. High Speed is the future, and Yahoo is jumping into it with both feet at once.

By moving into High Speed internet Yahoo is positioning itself to be the largest High Speed internet portal in North America.
