Yahoo Directory Sponsored Listing

Expired Credit Card Drops Pre-Annual Listing

Because our credit card expired on our Sponsored Listing, Yahoo dropped our directory listing that was in place prior to the annual fee.

The management console screen doesn't have a place to update this information, so I have to call them. Lets see Yahoo Billing, 408-349-1572 option 1, option 5, option 3.

We are experiencing an abnormal call volume. The current hold time will be more than 30 minutes. Hmmm...not an 800 number, and time is money. I'll try again in the morning. Should have stayed on hold when the time was less than 25 minutes this {late} morning.

Anyone else have success any other way?

Here's an update: We have been told that the only way to get our listings back is to pay for the $299 per year directory listing.

Time to go remove all sponsored listings!

Haymeadows we had sponsored listings for a while and found them totally inneffective. The ROI was awful. Too bad you got dropped from the directory, but it's not a major loss at this point in time.

In the area our client was in, a sponsored listing for the price and conversion was a no brainer. But not when you have to deal with unethical business practices.

Typically though you are right, sponsored listings are not worth it.

HayMeadows, I believe the link you were looking for to update your Yahoo Directory credit card information is at:

[ecom.yahoo.com...]

It sounds like you've decided to not renew your Y! Directory listing, though.

That is where the problem starts. We should not need to have to renew our Y! Directory Listing because we had the pre-annual fee listing.

We since signed up for the sponsored listing and when our credit card expired, Yahoo removed both our sponsored listing and our Directory Listing.

When I go to the page that you listed and update our credit card expiration date it states that the request is against an inactive record.

A supervisor at Yahoo told us that the only way to get that listing back was to pay the annual listing fee. This after being a sponsored listing of $100 a month since 7/15/01.

Reference# is 986383. I'd be happy to get a call and have this taken care of properly.

Guess you had to update your credit card info before it all expired, though one would think they would send out an email notification that your credit card had expired.

I guess that is too logical for Y! ;)

Bump...

Update: Still have not been contacted and cannot believe this appears to be standard practice. Our client is trying to pay Yahoo $100 a month for a sponsored listing and Yahoo is worried about $299 a year. Just doesn't make good business sense.

At this point I guess they want a lot more than that through their SiteMatch.

I heard the Sponsored Listings programs will continue to stay in place, so it'll still be in option for those in the directory.
