Bandwidth is a term used to describe the ammound of date that can travel through a network. for example a dial up connection is typicaly 56k, so it has a bandwidth is 56 kilobites of data that can travel along the connection at any one time.
The faster your connection the more data can travel along it.
Major web companies such as yahoo will have leased line data connections. This is basicaly a direct connection to the internet, and is the fastest connection possible.
You might want to think of the different web connections as electrical lines. The small wires in your computer. They carry 12 volts, the massive cables that carry power cross country, they carry about 150 000 volts. Try passing that through your computer ;-)
The bandwidth limiter is the connection you have.
Hope this is of some help.
Load balancing also refers to many servers containing the same infornationm but the system will filter the traffic to the quitest server to ensure pages load fast.
On a small scale load balencing sould be 2 servers, one fo rimages an done fo rthe html pages. On the opposite extreme we have google with 65000+ servers.
