Yahoo displays different results for 20 and everything else?

My first post here.

I have found that yahoo returns a totally different set of results when "return 20 results" is select versus any other grouping (10.15, 30, etc).

The search is for "baby formula". I'm number 9 under google, aol and yahoo on ALL results except when 20 results are returned. The I can't even find myself.

Is yahoo using a different search engine for 20 results and everything else?

I have noticed that for certain searches, Yahoo is returning radically different results today. Some searches continue to obe identical to google results and others are completely different.

One phrase

blue widgets

returns the same results as on google

Christmas widgets

returns totally different results than google. It looks just like the Altavista results to me.

Hello:

I have noticed the same thing and cannot figure out what is driving the results on Yahoo.

Essentially a simple KW search displays radically different results on G and Y when both SERP were almost identical up until "Florida".

Anyone have any idea?

Here is what i have found in my research:

Yahoo uses a diff. algorithm for it's top 20 results that heavily weights its own directory listings. If you are in the directory, theresutls will be almost the same as google.
