Hello,

Today when I went to check my website log, I noticed that my other home page is being spider by "YahooSeeker/1.0". I've never submitted my webpages to Yahoo before, but seeing this new spider is an interesting suprise. :-)

So I checked out the link that was in my stats and it pointed me to this URL:

[help.yahoo.com...]

After skimming through the FAQs', it's looks like an enhanced version of Froogle by Google. The only difference is that Yahoo Product Submit is not free. It operates on the same concept as Overture where you're paying per click to get listed.

Unlike Google's Adword, this new service from Yahoo has all of the CPC listed by categories.

[productsubmit.adcentral.yahoo.com...]

I see another bidding war rising amongst the merchants of the Internet realm.

What I would like to know is that if YahooSeeker/1.0 is spidering my website, do I still need to get listed to be shown within their search results?

Has anyone had any good results from Yahoo Shopping? I'm interesting in knowing how much traffic you received and also did you convert any of the traffic to sales?

They've been using Yahoo Seeker for some time.

Here are some threads about Yahoo Shopping:

hey tomsee,
I would also like to suggest that if the seekerbot is visiting your site, that you do not pay to submit a product feed. It is very likely that you will find your products listed in the y-shopping within a few weeks. It seems to help if you have prices listed with your products.
best wishes

onedumbear,

In that case, I'm good to go then... :-)

All of my products have prices on them. If the traffic from Yahoo Shopping is good, I will report the results of this spider crawling my site here for others to read.
