Why Yahoo web results different to Google

If yahoo is using google to return it's web searches then why are the results different?

Yahoo.co.uk UK sites "phrase" returns 21,700 and my site is listed 10th.

Same phrase on google.co.uk UK sites returns 35,500 and me listed on 2nd page at 16th.

Why the difference? I guess due to Yahoo not using live google data but using an older snapshot?

One of the differences is that Yahoo usually only shows one listing per site in the results. Google can show two.

Could that explain the difference in position in your case?
